No internet after enabling the proxy

When the internet dies after enabling the proxy, work through “nodes → mode → DNS → system settings” in order; the first two steps solve the vast majority of cases.

Layer-by-layer checks

  1. Test nodes: latency-test the current group on the Proxies page. All timeouts means the subscription nodes are dead — update the subscription or contact the provider.
  2. Check the mode: confirm the outbound mode is what you expect; the proxy doing nothing in direct mode is normal.
  3. Read logs: the Logs page shows whether requests arrive, which rule matched, and which node was used.
  4. Try DNS: if resolution looks suspect, temporarily toggle “DNS Overwrite” off and compare.
  5. Switch capture method: for apps ignoring the system proxy, test with TUN mode.

Offline after closing the client?

That happens when the system proxy setting was not restored: open the system proxy settings manually (Windows: Settings → Network & Internet → Proxy; macOS: Network → Details → Proxies) and turn off the manual proxy. Quitting the client properly (tray icon → Quit) prevents this.
