Moving from Clash for Windows to Clash Verge
Clash for Windows stopped development in 2023, which is why so many people are switching. The good news: subscription links are portable, so the move comes down to re-importing them and learning where the familiar features live.
The move itself
- In the Profiles page of Clash for Windows, find the subscription you actually use and copy its original URL from the card.
- Install Clash Verge, open the Profiles page, paste the link and click Import — see Importing a subscription.
- Pick a node on the Proxies page, turn on the system proxy in Settings, and load a page to confirm it works.
- Only then uninstall Clash for Windows, so the two clients never fight over the same port.
Where the old features went
System Proxy in CFW is the same switch in Verge. TAP mode is replaced by the far more reliable TUN mode. Mixin becomes Merge and Script under the global extended config — see Merge and Script. Multiple entries under Profiles become multiple cards on the Profiles page, see Managing profiles.
One difference that bites people: CFW listened on 7890, Clash Verge uses 7897 as its mixed port. Anything you pointed at 127.0.0.1:7890 by hand — git, your shell, download tools — needs updating, or set Verge back to 7890 as described in Port settings.
